Monday, my alarm was set for 7:30am hoping to be out shopping early. Ha! I dawdled over my breakfast as I am wont to do and didn’t leave till 9:35. Caught the vaparetto to Ca’d’Oro and judging from the shopping carts I was not the only one with this idea. At the end of the narrow calle I turned left, over one bridge past the church on the right and there was Billa. It was 11am before I was out the door this morning. I decided to stroll around the corner and see if I could find the Billa that is supposed to be “just around the corner”. Well, I did stroll slowly, stopping to take pictures, buy more postcards and I think I found a place for my intended gondola ride…a quiet back canal. Venice, Fall 2008, Ron Moline

September 30, 2008. I don’t suppose anything new under the sun can be said about Venice, surely one of the most written-about, painted, drawn, and photographed tourist destinations of the world. Discovering America’s Cultures (A Weekend in New Orleans)

Frank and I love to travel and whenever we have an opportunity to explore another area of “Hometown” America we take it whether it’s for a couple weeks or just a weekend. In the past few years we have had the opportunity to travel to Europe and learn about other countries’ cultures; but right here in the States, we can find a different culture in each state.

Put this on your must see list if going to the Salzburg, Austria area.

We went on our first Untour September 3-26. What a wonderful time we had. We visited the Rhine area for the first week, the Bavarian castle the second week and then went to the Salzburg area in Austria. We finished up the trip with two days in Munich for Oktoberfest. Like I said, we had a great time and each week had it's special memories and all are great choices for an Untour. Or more like a fairy tale. As I was ferried by private motor launch across the Venetian Lagoon I began to recognize islands I had read about over the years. A week ago...

I was packing to come home from my "Venetian Affair". Yes, I'm madly in love with the city of my dreams. I'm still getting over the jet lag. It sucks to be wide awake at 3am and sound asleep at 7:30pm. Switzerland: Recession? Depression? Tourism?

October snow at Lac Gauthier, Canada
