Today we took off on a lengthy journey, but one we really wanted to do regardless of the weather. We went to Ronda, Spain's home of bullfighting and the town which is split by lovely bridges over a steep gorge. It is indeed on of the loveliest towns we saw, even in gray weather. The old town has a charm unlike any other, and the parks and outlooks, as well as the hikes, were soooo much fun! We drove into town and parked in a lot that was well marked, with signage easy to understand about…
We purchased tickets online for the Alhambra, although we could easily have purchased them on our prior day in Granada www.alhambradegranada.org/en/ ;. But we wanted to arrive early and chose that time block and we had an early palace tour. What gardens! What beauty! What views! We drove there, parked in the main parking lot adjacent to the ticket office and…
Today we tasted a Greek Gyro for the first time in our lives. We will never be the same. While Eleanor waited in the park behind Notre Dame, I went to rue St. Severin and purchased one gyro. Now my job was to bring this savory smelling concoction back to Eleanor without tasting it. On the way people commented on how good it smelled. I finally made it back to Eleanor, and our picnic began. The sun came out and the birds zeroed in. Our bottle of Bordeaux lost its cork. Our glasses were filled. We… Continue
UNTOURS –SOUTH TUSCANY – SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2007
By Will & Becky
After a wonderful experience with our first Untour (Alsace region in France, Spring 2005), we chose Tuscany South for our next adventure. We booked our own travel using AA frequent flyer miles opting for an extended trip. Our first destination was arranged with TheRightVacationRental, an associated Untours company.
September 7-14: Arrive Paris CDG and depart 3 hours later aboard TGV train for… Continue

Untours Trip to Greece, February 27 – March 12, 2008
Our Untours trip to Greece was our first (first Greece, first Untours) – and after our experience there, it certainly won’t be our last. When we told people we were going to be staying in a town called Nafplio, we were often asked why we chose that town. We too wondered why Untours chose Nafplio, out of all the beautiful places in Greece. Having heard such positive things from other Untours travelers about their trips in Europe, we… Continue
Some of you may have noticed the new logo on the back of our latest catalog. It's a B with a circle around it. What's that all about?
In recent years, we've talked more about the work of the Untours Foundation and the fact that our profits go to support its efforts. We've done this a bit reluctantly because Hal and Norma don't like being put on a pedestal and getting attention for work that is deeply meaningful to them personally. At the same time, we don't want to be seen as a… Continue
We used Frommer's "Europe On 5 And 10 Dollars A Day" to prepare for our very first trip to Europe in 1973. We signed up for a 15 day "Freelance" Tour covering the cities of London, Vienna, Rome and Paris. The tour company arranged flights, hotel and offered optional bus tours. Other than that, you were on your own to explore. We avoided the bus tours. At Speakers Corner in London, we listened among a small group of spectators. We marveled at London… Continue
Well after 35 years we were finally able to travel back in time and walk in the foorsteps of our youth. I had posted the 1973 photos prior to our Paris Untour. Today we took a walk down Avenue McMahon and found the Etoile Park Hotel still lives, along with the pedicure shop that was next door to it. Except for some minor changes, the exterior looks the same. The small secondary street in front of it is now a wide sidewalk. The view up towards the Arc de Triomphe is basically the same except for… Continue
My childhood did not include traveling. Up until the age of 15, the only time I was out of the state of New Jersey was on a grade school trip to Washington's Crossing, Pennsylvania. In high school, bus trips opened up the vast new world of New York City. The Museum of Natural History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the United Nations Building.....that was the extent of my world travels. Other than that, my world was restricted to the farm fields across the street from my home. The summer I… Continue
When I had spoken to our Parisian contact, Larry, he had warned me about using my laptop with WiFi.
He said that I would be vulnerable to other computer users within 300-feet. They could easily capture, for
example, my bank account information whenever I made an attempt to pay a bill online.
Today, one of my Tech News newsletters discussed this very topic. Rather than indicate the web
address, and leave it up to our Untour Café members to read the information, I've… Continue

I'm nervous to bring up this topic as I know how much discussion there's been in the past, but I wanted to ask if anyone had ever heard of the "TrekPod"?
The website of the company that makes them is http://trek-tech.com/
It's apparently a walking stick & tripod in one. Here's what their website says:
"It's a Walking Staff, It's a Monopod, It's a Tripod—and the MagMount Works Like Magic!
"A revolutionary…
TRIP TO THE NETHERLANDS—1994
By Everett and Jane Arnold
We flew to Amsterdam in a DC10. Fortunately we were next to the bulkhead so I had legroom. We were the last to be called to board so we had to scatter our coats and carry on luggage in two different overhead locations. A young Dutch couple sat next to us who had been to the States on business. They slept with eye coverings, neck pillows and no shoes. We gave up and watched a Whoopi Goldberg movie about ghetto kids in a… Continue
It’s hard to know where to start. We had wanted to go to Holland on an Untour for many years, and we weren’t disappointed. After leaving Orlando at 5:25 p.m. we arrived at London Gatwick Airport to change planes to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport arriving at 11:40 a.m. We were met at the “Meeting Place” by our taxi driver who delivered us (after a little confusion as to the address) to our apartment at Hogewoerd 144 in Leiden. We stayed in the Jan Steen… Continue
BAVARIAN CASTLE UNTOUR -- A PLANNING GUIDE PART I:
Frank and I decided to do the Bavarian Castle Untour in 2005 and we were delighted with it. I think every little girl has dreamed of living in a castle and I was no exception. My dream came true at Schloss Sommersdorf. We stayed in the…
Winter is planning time for our Untour trips. Since people have been asking me questions about what there is to see and do while on a Tuscany South Untour, I…
Italian experts have spent decades, and millions of pounds, restoring the palace of ancient Rome’s first Emperor, Augustus. It reopens to the public in March 2008.
Like Nancy, whose blog I just read, I do some of my traveling alone because my husband hates to travel. Usually I've just signed on to a tour, but at 68, I'm now considering a more leisurely style. I've been wanting to see the Italian Alpes, but worry about just packing up & going it alone. Any Advice??

Well, this week has been a busy and exciting one at the Untours office!
First, there was an article about our very own Hal Taussig on the Associate Press newswire (not sure if that's the right term. It was syndicated in many papers, including a full page in the Philadelphia Metro, the… Continue
