Speaking of the Netherlands, and all things spring-like

I was doing a BIG gardening weekend....this the first really nice weather weekend we have had, that I could get to the garden, and noting with mild sadness that the tulips I bought at the Keukenhof in HOlland in 1996 are somewhat decimated. Those that the deer haven't eaten seem to have lost some of their glory over the years.

Italian Immersion

Here's a short tidbit from our staff person Andrea who was in Italy on an work assignment this April:

I don't speak Italian, but I am learning. And when working over here it is often hard for me to find time in the evenings to study. So I pick up expressions on the way. Some of my favorite ones from this trip so far are

Rome- Part One

Rome: June 27th to July 5th, 2006







Our flight was on Air France. We were to connect in Paris and then fly into Rome, arriving @ 1 pm the next day. Boarding was a half-hour late. Okay, not so bad. But then we sat on the tarmac, 30th in line waiting for take-off! So we cooled our jets for another 2 hours. Lots of consternation among the travellers. Florence, 2009

September 23

Upon arrival at the Florence train station we were met by Mary Jane Poole and Marco, our driver. Mary Jane rode with us to our apartment, took us in and waited while Gabriella, the apartment representative, showed us around. After Gabriella left, we realized there was no phone in the apartment, an important item for us.
