It’s hard to believe it was a year ago I made my reservation for my Venice Untour. I’m still managing to bore or intrigue my friends and coworkers with the latest update or my latest find. I’ve gotten more interest at work since I’ve put a picture of a Venetian canal as my wallpaper on my computer. It replaced a picture of my cat Lili for now. She doesn’t mind.

I’ve been reading everything I can get my hands on about Venice, set in Venice. I watch movies set in Venice. My favorite is… Continue

Two months from today

I am being very bad and doing this from work. I have high speed access here and my dial up at home is not allowing me to enter a blog post. I can comment but not post in my blog. Do you see high speed in my future. You bet. After Venice.
Two months from today I depart. I can hardly wait. This isn't as long as the one I wrote last week and couldn't post. I'll probably be reprimanded for doing this on State equipment so I'm gone for now.
Ciao.

[Weekly Wednesday Words] Badge Updates, Bookworms Wanted, & Photo Updates

Dear Untours Cafe patrons,

We're busy here in the Untours office in Media, where we're getting ready to send the fall catalog to the printers and add the 2009 offerings to our website. Stay tuned for the former in your real mail box and the latter in your virtual inbox in the coming weeks (September at the very earliest).

Even though it's only been a week since we unveiled the Untours badges, I've got some news for you there. Before you rush off to grab the new badges, we… Continue

India--in an Untours-friendly style

I hope no one minds expanding a bit from Europe on here; I really feel that my travel style and philosophy has been so formed and informed by Untours that I like to share my journeys here. At this point I'm expanding outwards a bit from Europe, but I am really looking at Croatia and Czech and Hungary for next year or the year after...

Just a little background: you may treat this like a preface and ignore, if you like: My visit to India was from 04th July to 24th July, 2008. I had… Continue

You can't get to Paris this year?

If traveling to Paris this year is a problem for you, why not try our neighbors to the north? My husband and I found Quebec City and Montreal in Canada to be delightful Paris fill-ins. We didn't have a lot of time, but we did spend several days in each city this past June. Here's a quick account of what we found.

Quebec City was lovely. We stayed in a hotel a bit away from the old city, but found the bus system to be quite good. And after we felt more comfortable we did drive to a… Continue

Untour Trips We've Taken

Thus far, my husband and I have been able to enjoy thoroughly three Untour trips. Two were to Switzerland; first one for a two week period, and the second trip for a month. Most recently (April & May, 2008), we spent a month in Paris, France. Like Switzerland, we would love to return.…

Weekly Wednesday Words - A Day Late, but not a Dollar Short!

I've got two really exciting developments to share this week. Here in the Untours Cafe kitchen we're hard at work rustling up new flavors & concoctions for you to try.

Badges

What are badges? They're the digital equivalent to a bumper sticker on your car (I don't have a car so I'd put mine on my suitcase) or a patch on a vest or sleeve. Instead of being for a cause or a club, these are for Untours you've done. Many of you out are veteran Untourists, so this is just… Continue

Adelboden Follow-up by Dick Stewart

Dick Stewart asked me to post this information on his behalf:

Fellow Travelers,

A while back I sent a couple of emails about activities above Adelboden which seemed interesting enough to pursue on what was then an upcoming Untour to the Oberland (Kandersteg). The Untour is over so it might be appropriate to comment on how these activities turned out.

1. Walking Across Europe's Longest Suspension… Continue
