QUEBEC: New Adventures in an Old but Wonderful City (Day 6)

Museums.........Since the beginning of the week, local forecasters had predicted that the last two days we would have in Quebec would be rainy.  They were correct!  With that thought in mind we had saved our museum passes for the inclement weather.  It was a short walk to the first museum and armed with umbrellas and our raincoats we headed down Rue St Jean.

The situation in Greece

Our very own Cathrin Baumbach is just back from Nafplio and Athens.  If you'd like to chat with her about how things feel "on the ground," please give her a call.  1-888-868-6871 x2010.

(We actually have two other staff persons in Nafplio at the moment as well: Sue and Marilee.  Word is they don't want to leave...)

Quebec: New Adventures in an Old but Wonderful City (Day 5)

Ile D' Orleans.......A bright sunny day and we have decided this would be a great day to visit Ile D' Orleans.  Situated about 3 miles down river from Quebec, the island is 20 1/2 miles long and 4 1/2 miles at it's widest point.  In 1970, the entire island was designated as a historical borough.  Eighteen (18) of the three thousand six hundred (3,600) buildings on the island are designated historical monuments.  It has retained it's culture and charm because until 1935, the only way one…

Quebec: New Adventures in an Old but Wonderful City Day (Day 4)

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency        Today we are doing a group activity with our guide, Guy and the three other American couples we met on Sunday.  We are going to Montmorency Falls, about seven miles NE of Quebec.  We meet at the designated place and walk to the bus stop as we will be using the public transportation system to get there.  The weatherman has warned that there may be showers "on and off" showers today. We bring our umbrellas just in case.

It was an interesting bus ride…

Independent Biking With Support

Has anyone ridden an e-bike yet?  I just tried one on my recent trip to Switzerland and it was really fun.  First of all, you should know that I like bike riding, but I’m not in the shape I used to be.  That’s why I was excited to try one after reading a NY Times article about e-biking back in August.

It wasn’t long before I realized that e-bikes are very popular in Switzerland.  Everyone knew about…

Quebec: New Adventures in an Old and Wonderful City (Day 2 )

Our Untour's orientation to Quebec was scheduled for 9:30 AM at Paillard's Boulangerie across the street and one block away from the apartment.  Upoon arrival there we met Guy Methot, the Untour's representative in Quebec along with three other American couples who would also be spending the week in Quebec.  We were treated to coffee and our choice of pastry.  Believe me, their coffee and a chocolate croissant was not a bad way to begin the day!  It was understandable to see why so many of…
