In 2006 Fred and I thought it would be fun to meet other Untourists for lunch. We check the Idyllchat for people who lived in our area of Massachusetts or perhaps New Hampshire. We had been emailing back and forth for over a year with a couple from New Hampshire, Idabella and Bert. They agreed to met us for lunch at the Common Man in Concord, NH; we sat over 2 hours and had a delicious lunch, interesting conversation and mutual interests. The time past by so quickly; we were…

Our grandson and granddaughter often comment on how many places we've traveled, so this August we took them cross-country to explore Washington State. It was so much fun seeing it all through their eyes! We began in the mountains on a Mt. Baker hike.
The Ptarmigan Ridge trail starts out in the snow even in mid-August which made the kids happy! After a short walk across the snowfield, we were back onto a normal but pretty spectacular ridge…
ContinueIt was so enjoyable reading the Cafe staff recommended article in the New York Times about fly-fishing in Greece. Just hope the fishing is still good there, in view of the terrible fires they are having. The article brought back wonderful memories of many hours spent with youngest son, Jim, trying to perfect the art of attracting a fish to the fly, and thought I'd share a few photos of these efforts.
The photo above…

In the Travel section of today's Sunday Star Ledger, I read about a handy online site that can be a valuable tool in planning your next trip:
www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp
I've heard of this site before on IdyllChat. However, the option I really like on this site is the weather history for a particular location. I entered Paris for our Untour trip scheduled for next Spring. Not only did I get the…

We spent part of our morning visiting the Bruggers. We exchanged photos of our families and had a very nice visit with them; we had brought a small family album with us. Ernst showed us pictures from the Swiss newspaper of festivals, and parades. These parades were held between…

(This blog was written in answer to Mary Lou Grier’s request to know more about the landlady of the Ada Teresa.)

Tuesday, September 5th we finished our packing this morning. Our trip today would be Kandersteg. We trained and connected through Spiez; arrived in 2 hours just in time for our picnic lunch in a picturesque park. A few of the shops were closed from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. We bought a few gifts for our family and friends. It was a perfect day the sun was shining brightly, and the blue sky enhanced the mountains and this charming village. …
