UNTOURS’ TUSCANY AND PROVENCE
In Florence: A big city. The market here is wonderful. A note about markets: buy what you want when you see it

Just BEHIND the Duomo is a tiny museum, the Opa or Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore with Michelangelo's "La Pieta di Michelangelo." This was meant for his tomb, and he gave his own…

My wife, Eleanor, is a natural at making friends. Whenever we are on a flight, she usually asks our flight attendant for an autograph and/or photo. That usually makes their day. Once after making this request, we received a bag as we exited the plane. In the bag were numerous snacks and bottles of liquor and wine that were left over from first class.
When we flew to Charles de Gaulle Airport on our 2008 Paris Untour, she made the usual request when our flight attendant was about to…

Larry gave me some safety tips, advice on the latest scams, and the unwelcome news that the RER line C will be closed for…

I just read this article on the website BonjourParis.com. I found it interesting. I felt that I should post my own comments about our experiences with the friendly French. Here are my comments:
"My wife and I spent a month in Paris (April-May) in 2008. We had an apartment near rue Montorgueil. Naturally we shopped there every day. We became familiar with the salespeople in many of the shops. We made an effort to try… Continue

It's been a few months since I posted here, and Kim suggested I write about wine.
Well,
there's a loaded subject. I'll just start here with an interview with a
real winegrower:
Now, I put this here because I just want to get something out of the way:
Most "wines" that we run into in the U.S. (the ubiquitous brands in every liquor store/ wine shop) ain't wine. They're food-processed beverages manufactured by…
