Tuesday April 12, 2011. We are in CVG about 2hrs early but that's OK the weather has cleared and it's good here anyway--we left with about 4" of rain and a little water in the basement. Oh well,we have good help with the house so won't worry about it!

In 1997 we made plans for a three week trip to Scotland and England.  Eleanor's ancestors lived in Glasgow for about 4 years before emigrating to Canada in the first decade of the 1900's. In Glasgow she was to find the location where her ancestors had lived.  Then it was on to Edinburgh to do some genealogical research before continuing south to York and Oxford for sightseeing.  We arrived at Heathrow Airport on September 6, 1997, the day of Princess Diana's funeral.  So she was on our mind…

I will be staying at this address from next Wed (20 Apr) to 27 April. It's in the 15th arrondissement. I have the following questions:

 

1. Suggestions for nearby dining

 

2. Suggestions for nearby food shopping, mainly for breakfast and snacks

 

3. It appears that the Eiffel Tower is within walking distance, maybe a mile. True?

 

4. It also appears that the nearby RER station (Javel) seems a better fit than the Javel Metro…

we're packing our suitcase, and traveling light as advised. We leave our KY home on Tuesday for an Italy adventure, a Venice Tuscany sampler. I hope to maintain this log (probably by cutting and pasting) because everything I have read here on the Untours site has been helpful to me.
