Don't go into the kitchen!

Last night we attended the Untours dinner at Le Navigator restaurant. While leaving we saw the two German Shepherd dogs sitting there in an alcove looking as innocent as can be. Parisian tomatoes

Tomatoes taste like tomatoes here! A sweet deep tomato taste. Long lost taste buds are being activated in my mouth. I'm beginning to think that everything in the States is stamped, sealed and spray painted before coming out on a conveyor belt from a cork factory. Salad isn't just salad here. It's culinary experience that takes your taste buds on a roller coaster ride.

"I was blinded!"

After our arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport on Wednesday, we were greeted by Jennifer, the Untours representative. After handing over our Metro tickets , museum passes, etc., our luggage was loaded into a van by our driver, Eddie. He is just 21 years old, and an expert driving the Paris streets. On the way into Paris, he was stopped by the police. The street he turned into is reserved for taxis only. He is licensed as a taxi, but his car didn’t look like a taxi. Venice...The Dream Continues

Yes, I went to Venice again, this time on my own since my Untours plans were cancelled this year. I couldn't stand not going and a friend said she would be there in March, then another, then another. I made my own arrangements and stayed in an apartment only a very short walk from the Casino apartment where I stayed in the fall of 2008. Gigli Eats a Bit of Crow

Some of you know that I am not much of a

Francophile. I don't know why. I have French ancestors, a French name,

Home again, home again, jiggety jog

Birthday in Paris

During our Untours visit in May I will celebrate my 67th birthday. To celebrate we will have dinner at the Eiffel Tower restaurant on the first level as the restaurant on the second level is 'way too expensive.
Both are run by the same chef. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to make online reservations for both lift tickets and the restaurant from home. Rick Steves says you do not need lift tickets if you have dinner reservations, but I was afraid we would not be able to go to the…

Wildflowers From Magisalp Trail

There have been some discussions of wildflowers in the May/June time frame. Here is a photo taken in May from the trail down from Magisalp. I am in the process of making a small quilt, painting the scene on white background fabric, using the photo as a guide. So far, so good.

The flowers may appear to be dandelions, but they are what makes the cheese and schlag taste so good.
