Profile Information

What is your favorite place in Europe so far?
So far our favorite place in Europe is Southern Tuscany. We stayed outside of Buoncovento on a farm and hit the road everyday usually returning home for the sunset over the hills.
Where would you most like to go next?
We are going to Paris - after that we would like to get to Prague...after that to see the tulips in Holland!
Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
The best apartment was in Migliarino, outside of Pisa in Northern Tuscany. We've not had close relationships with hosts so far. Buonconvento has been our favorite village.
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
We like to take pictures of flowers, art, architecture, and try to capture the atmosphere in some way. We're interested in Art Nouveau and sometimes discover it in the strangest places. We try to follow our hunches and let serendipity find us.
When you upload photos to Untours Cafe, you are also giving Untours permission to use the photos in their promotional material (with credit to you)
Leaving my wallet at the check out in the Coop in Buonconvento, speaking no Italian, returning to the store, trying to explain what had happened to me to the manager who spoke no English. Finding it and the clerk jumping up and down and hugging me.
Which Untours have you already done?
Paris, Southern Tuscany, Northern Tuscany,
Will be doing the Right Vacation with a week in Normady and week in Paris this summer.
What advice would you give others considering an Untour?
Go for it! In all ways it is the best bang for the buck.
What is your favorite Untour? (so far)
Southern Tuscany - the hill towns, Siena, Florence a cooking school, the wine and food!

We're back from France!!!

We're back from France... recovering from jet-lag, sorting through several thousand digital pictures (35mm,APS and Movies too!) and trying to re-integrate into life in the States! Our intergenerational trip was an unqualified success and we all decided (except for the 8 year old who wanted to go home to play with his Legos) that we needed several more weeks to continue to soak up the Parisian life-style. More details later.

Here you are!! I bet you are pretty busy....getting ready for your trip. I really appreciate your taking the time to join. Perhaps when you get back, you will have some of the first "Made especially for Untours" video clips to share?

Your place of residence caught my eye, Albany NY. Whenever my Canadian cousin drives from/to Montreal on his way to visit us, he stops there. He's always recommending that we plan to stop and eat in Albany when we're driving up to Quebec. We plan to drive up North this coming fall. We travel along I-87. Any suggestions as to places to enjoy lunch and a restful break from the driving?

Funny at one time I thought the same thing....am I missing a lot by looking thru my camera viewfinder? However, don't you find that by taking pictures you actually observe more around you? I am always looking around first at the large picture then my eye zooms into the more minute details, things I use to miss before I really started taking a lot of pictures. The odd items hit my eye, and the smaller things call for me to zoom in to see them better. I think I see a lot more thru my camera then many others notice thru their two eyes.
