Switzerland - Heartland

This was our first Untours and we loved it. Switzerland is the perfect place for such a tour. We got in a lot of hiking and the Untours Hiking Guide was wonderful. Our little village in Lungern was perfect. It was right on the train line and was a charming place.

I have a book, Walking Switzerland, The Swiss Way, written by Marcia and Philip Lieberman. It was written in 1987. I bought it about 10 years ago. I don't know if it is still available. If you can't find it in the bookstores, maybe it would be on Amazon.com. It's the only comprehensive hiking book that I have found. Viel Gluck!

Welcome to the group, Alice. We'll be leaving for The Heartland first of September, then Ticino. Everything I've read seems to insist on hiking, hiking, hiking and just today I've decided I need to wear my hiking boots on the plane so as not to take up packing space.

Most people in the tourist industry speak English. Many menus have an English section. We were once in a neighborhood creperie with only a German menu. I asked if they had an English menu. The waitress went off and came back with another waitress who spoke English.
