Frank and I decided to do the Bavarian Castle Untour in 2005 and we were delighted with it. I think every little girl has dreamed of living in a castle and I was no exception. My dream came true at Schloss Sommersdorf. We stayed in the…

Untouring Tuscany South - a Planning Guide:
Winter is planning time for our Untour trips. Since people have been asking me questions about what there is to see and do while on a Tuscany South Untour, I…

I think the world or at least the West Coast has discovered Ludivico and Ana Ginotti’s wines. After returning from our Tuscany South Untour in 2005 where we stayed at the Ginotti Farm/Vineyard/Winery, we found that a local distributor in San Francisco occasionally imported some of their Rosso and Brunello wines. Of course, we had to have a couple bottles. Last year we were…

A cousin of ours who shares our Swiss heritage (Meiringen) sent me this link to a really funny Rail Europe Ad. It is adorable and since we all go to these countries, I thought you all might enjoy it. It plays a little music from each country. Sorry, I don't know any way to display it except as a link. Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this. If so, I'll delete it and you can email me for the link.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, everyone!!
Now must get back to decorating.…

The festivities have started in Munich (Bavaria, Germany). The first keg of beer was tapped and the festival began. It runs for two weeks ending in October. To celebrate the event, I have posted pictures from our trip to the Oktoberfest in 2006. You can view them as an album with descriptions from my home page. Hope you…

(This blog was written in answer to Mary Lou Grier’s request to know more about the landlady of the Ada Teresa.)

I know this is not an Untours travel story but I just had to share.
Our family loves baseball, both as players and spectators. This is something we have shared together for the past 39 years. We love watching San Francisco Giants games both on TV and at the park since we live…

Ever spend time and money planning a trip, take it and when you get home have a hard time remembering what you saw and did. Have a hard time with writing a trip journal along the way? Try photography as an aid to remembering simple details.
If you ask anyone who knows me, they…

Are you going to Bavaria and Munich during Oktoberfest? Then prepare ahead and you will have a really great time.
The first thing you really must do is get a room reservation in Munich. You don’t want to miss out on all the evening fun by having to return to your Castle by…

Frank and I just returned last night from our first Paris Untour. It was awesome! Frank celebrated his birthday while we were there and we celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary also. Two in one week! We went to the Moulin Rouge for one of the evening shows as our special anniversary celebration and it was so worth it. Such history in that place!
I am still jet lagged at this point but wanted to start on the Untours Cafe.
Will write more later.
Au Revoir, Marlene
